Lifetime Fulton County resident, Mr. Edward "Ed" Carl Westwood, 65, Rochester, passed away at 3:32 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

On June 30, 1951, Ed was born in Rochester. He was the treasured son of Carl Thomas and Frances Ellen Barth Westwood. He grew up on the family farm near Leiters Ford. Ed enjoyed spending time with his grandparents who lived next door.

In First Presbyterian Church of Rochester, on Sept. 28, 1968, Ed married the love of his life, Mary Ruth Ringle. The Rev. Smiley Johnson officiated. Ed and Mary shared nearly 49 years of life's adventures. From their union came three great children: Scott, Kimberly and Angela. Over the years, two more generations were added to the family tree. During the early years, Ed and Mary raised their family on a farm near Kewanna, where he and his father built their home.

With a solid work ethic, Ed worked for many years at Sealed Power with his dad. In the company of many great people, he garnered many lifetime friendships.

An American outdoorsman, Ed loved to camp, hunt and fish. This allowed many memories to be made with his family. At home in his workshop garage, he was known as Mr. Fix-it. The garage door was always up, welcoming friends and family who came by with projects for him to repair or weld to like-new condition. Along with his grandson, Ed tinkered with his shiny black Suzuki Volusia, keeping it in tune and making adjustments to maximize its performance. There was nothing like taking a ride and the feeling of freedom while catching the warm summer breeze. More recently, he spent numerous hours in the process of restoring his 1997 GMC Sonoma.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Westwood, and Angela Marie Westwood, both of Rochester; a son, Scott Alan Westwood and wife Christine, Rochester; five grandchildren, Thomas Westwood, Trisha Westwood, Alexander Carl Carpenter, Lukas Carpenter, and Melissa Figueroa; three great-grandchildren, Tania, Marlee Mae and Alivia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of the life of Edward Carl Westwood will be at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Good Family Funeral Home. Cole Thomas Westwood, Ph.D., a cherished nephew of Ed, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Electronic expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at
