Eleanor Alderfer

Eleanor Elaine Alderfer, 70, Greenfield, and formerly of northern Fulton County, passed away at 6:17 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.

Elaine was born on Dec. 15, 1946, in Rochester, to Louis E. and Louise E. (Windbigler) Kelly.

On Aug. 7, 1966, at the Walnut Gospel Church in Argos, she married Roger L. Alderfer. He survives.

Elaine had worked for the former Torin/Brookside Corporation in Rochester. She graduated from Mentone High School in 1966. She was a Master Gardener and a member of the Herb Society.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Alderfer, Greenfield; her siblings, Patricia Johnson, Rochester, Mary Downs, Houlton, Maine, Barbara Widner and Kenny Michael, Logansport, Paul Kelly, Anaheim, Calif., N. Jean Kelly and Dave B., Elkhart, M. Janet Kelly, Evanston, Ill., James Kelly and wife Deb, Rochester, Evelyn Barton and husband Tim, Mentone, Douglas Kelly, Warsaw, and Brian Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Louis E. and Louise E. Kelly.

Her funeral service is 6 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with the Rev. Dale Doran, who married Elaine and Roger 50 years ago, officiating. Burial will be in Richland Center Cemetery, Rochester. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riley Children's Foundation, 30 S. Meridian St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Family and friends may share a memory or send an online condolence at

Elaine, you will live in our hearts forever. You touched our hearts beyond words. I will never forget that laugh, love for Roger, Children and animals. I love you.
